GENERAL ASSAULTS BADGE 50

GENERAL ASSAULTS BADGE # 50 with CERTIFICATE of AUTHENTICITY        
This is a truly magnificent example of the numbered badge for 50 engagements. The thickness of the eagle, crossed bayonet and hand grenade above the wreath surface give the badge a subtly convex look. The silver finish to the wreath is handsomely aged, with light toned and with a burnished look with shadows in the low relief points. The bird, bayonet and grenade are a nicely contrasting dark oxidized silver color with a fine, mellow gleam to the smooth surface (e.g. the swastika). The number box at the center of the wreath it also dark silver / grey, with no gilding remaining on the border, or the "50". The darker insignia affixed to the wreath frame with four high-standing rivets through the reverse of the wreath. The hinge is very well-machined and the badge has a very nice, flat pin with a flared waist. The pin has a subtly downward bowed shape, and sits securely in a well-crafted, flatware catch. A truly spectacular example of one of the most desirable badges. Condition is XF. Reference: Detlev Niemann in "Price Guide. Orders and decorations Germany" 2004, page 610 put 1400 EURO ($1680) for that nice badge. Now the same badge is selling for $2100. Look at here.
